Timor-Leste vs Australia "Negotiations aren't over, a new agreement will be signed in March"

It is sad witnessing the actual  situation of my country. Latest news from Lusa's Headlines state that  "Negotiations between Australia and Timor-Leste ended with no agreement."

This is misleading information as the negotiations arent over yet and causes uncertainity and doubt between our people. The truth is Negotiations arent over and a new agreement will be signed in March. Read the Permanent Court of Arbitration Press Release, Kuala Lumpur, February 25, 2018.

Unfortunately many of the supporters from Fretilin party are acting as this was good news, because in my opinion  they forget that whats on the line here is our Nations Future and not a Political Game to win the Earliest Elections that will happen in May, the 12.

By saying this my beloved people, our team in Timor Leste leaded by our Hero Xanana Gusmao is working hard to undo an agreement wich was signed back in 2002 by our Prime Minister at that time Mr. Mari Alkatiri that would grant  Australia to still benefit of the pipelines in the Timor sea in the same terms between Australia and Indonesia for 50 yrs time.

Is a fact that the negotiations arent over, a great achievement from Mr. Xanana and Timor-Leste team are as follows:

1-  The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is set to witness the signing of a new Maritime Boundaries agreement in New York on March 6.

2- Recommendations by the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague, which has overseen negotiations between the neighbouring countries, on how the dispute should be settled are expected to be released in mid-April.

According to the Sidney Morning Herald news latest article dated on February, 26, 2018 details of the agreement have not been made public.

The agreement that was previously signed for 50 yrs leaded by Mari Alkatiri will than have to be rectified by both Timor-Leste and Australia.

"The signing in New York will end years of bitter disagreement over the boundary which successive Australian governments refused to negotiate for years."

This is a plus for us Timor-Leste, rest assured that our Hero Xanana Gusmão and our team still didnt gave up fighting for our rights to have the pipes back to our country.

So please dont lose hope and dont let urself being mislead by sensationalist  headlines.

FRETILIN - História antes da Restauração da Independência

A Fretilin foi fundada em 20 de maio de 1974, inicialmente conhecida como Associação Social Democrata Timorense (ASDT). A ASDT se renomeou a Fretilin em 11 de setembro de 1974 e assumiu uma posição mais radical, proclamando-se o "único representante legítimo" do povo timorense. Em resposta a um golpe da União Democrata Timorense (UDT) em 11 de agosto de 1975, a Fretilin formou rapidamente uma ala armada chamada Falintil, que surgiu vitoriosa após uma guerra civil de três semanas. Falintil continuaria a fazer guerra contra o exército indonésio durante sua invasão em 7 de dezembro de 1975 e ocupação subsequente.

A Fretilin declarou formalmente a independência de Timor-Leste a partir de Portugal em 28 de novembro de 1975 e inaugurou um gabinete de 18 membros com membros do Comitê Central da Fretilin, com Xavier do Amaral como presidente e Nicolau dos Reis Lobato como vice-presidente e primeiro-ministro. Os dois homens caíram à medida que as pressões da ocupação aumentavam, e em setembro de 1977 Lobato mandou Amaral preso por "alta traição". Em 13 de dezembro de 1978, Nicolau Lobato, o sucessor de Amaral como presidente, foi morto pelo exército indonésio. Mau Lear tornou-se o novo presidente até que ele foi rastreado e executado em 2 de fevereiro de 1979. 

A Fretilin passou por uma enorme pressão no final da década de 1970. De setembro de 1977 a fevereiro de 1979, apenas 3 dos 52 membros do Comitê Central da Fretilin sobreviveram. Recuperação e unidade nacional a Fretilin sobreviveu apesar do colapso militar e foi lentamente reconstruída sob a liderança relativamente moderada e nacionalista de Xanana Gusmão. 

Entre março de 1981 e abril de 1984, a Fretilin era conhecida como Partido Marxista-Leninista Fretilin (PMLF), e o marxismo-leninismo foi oficialmente declarado ideologia do partido. O nome foi alterado em 1984 - e a política revolucionária abandonada - para fortalecer a unidade nacional e adquirir o apoio da UDT e da Igreja Católica.

O livro será apresentado brevemente em Timor-Leste (em língua portuguesa), com prefácios do Doutor Jorge Sampaio (antigo Presidente da República de Portugal) e Almirante Silva Ribeiro (atual Chefe de Estado Maior da Marinha de Portugal).

Uma memória singular, bem diferente do habitual livro biográfico dos heróis, com momentos muito emocionantes, que passam acima de tudo uma mensagem, um testemunho. Vale a pena ler!
